Original artwork by Melanie Brauner. Inspired by my fantasy of living in a tiny cottage on the edge of moss-covered cliffs.
Sculptural folds of bronze screen form a 3D landscape, and I've coated it in paper that has been textured to look like moss. The paper has been dyed with pigments, and also inks made that I made from moss.
The little cottage is made from hand-fabricated brass, dipped into abaca paper pulp over and over again to fill in the walls and roof with paper.
All of the paper has been sealed to protect it and make it easier to clean.
Built on a canvas stretcher so it's easy to hang on your wall.
20 inches high, by 16 inches wide, and about 7 inches deep at its deepest point.
Created in April, 2026.
